Speaking club. Meeting #11. How to Be Productive

Yesterday we had a meeting about Productivity. And it was very productive!

First, we talked about Brook Castillo’s podcast episode about productivity that we had listened to before the meeting.

She has a different approach to productivity. She encourages not to focus on the amount of time you spent on something but on the result:

“The definition of productivity does not refer to how much or how long you work. It doesn’t refer to how busy you are and it doesn’t refer to how stressed you are. …
I want you to think about this in terms of when you buy a product at the store, it doesn’t say, “We worked on this for five years.” It doesn’t say, “It took us 45 minutes to produce this.” … you don’t care about any of that.”

She encourages us to accomplish things in a certain period of time we set ourselves for it and not waiting for perfect timing or when the result of our work will be perfect. It will never be. We just need to make it good enough, so people could benefit from it and move on to a different thing.

We also learned

5 productivity principles high achievers live by.

They are:

1. Write down the things you want to do/achieve
2. Get rid of things you don’t need to do
3. Prioritize: first things first
4. Focus on one thing at a time
5. Take frequent breaks during the work

Then we went to smaller rooms where we talked about productivity in our life and how we manage it.

After the meeting participants were full of energy and excitement to “be even more productive” and “change their life”.

It was the best time to introduce them to our accountability group on Facebook that we decided to open during our 7th meeting.

The group called

Doers and Achievers

It’s gonna be our tool to do things, accomplish them and get support of like-minded people who’re on the same page.

The goal of the group – to do and achieve results in any sphere of our life. Learn, inspire, and support each other on this journey.

There are will be the following activities:

  • Setting and sharing your goals
  • Prioritizing your THREE main goals for a week
  • Monthly accountability meetings where we summarize how productive the month was for us, what didn’t go well, and what we plan for the next one.

It’s a private group. Only members of the group can see what we share there. All we share there stays there.

If you

– want to do and achieve more and surround yourself with people with similar goals and aspirations
– ready to be effective, helpful, resourceful, supportive, inspirational, helpful and DO things not just think or talk about them
– ready to learn, share, do, fail, do, fail and do, fail and do, do, do until you get the result you want

Don’t forget to answer the questions! If I don’t know you personally and you don’t answer the request will be declined. I want to make sure that our group provides a safe and productive environment. And also if you want to do more you need to start doing. Joining the group is the first step to your journey!
